About

Clarity is a choice, not a correction.

Foxtrot Speech exists to help people communicate with more clarity and confidence, on their own terms.

T.J. Dunn — Founder & Clinical Director

T.J. Dunn

Foxtrot grew out of a question T.J. had been sitting with for years: why wasn't anyone applying clinical-grade speech expertise to the specific demands of aviation communication?

Radio communication is an unforgiving listening environment. Background noise, compressed audio, non-standard frequencies, and time pressure all compound the challenge for pilots, controllers, and crew operating in English as a second language. In most professional contexts, a misunderstanding is a minor inconvenience. In aviation, the stakes are different.

With formal training in linguistics — and a background spanning clinical practice, professional writing, and years covering the aviation industry — T.J. recognised that clinical-grade accent modification was exactly what this gap needed. Clinical specialists bring Master's-level understanding of how sounds are physically produced, how they pattern across languages, and how phonological differences between a speaker's first language and English affect intelligibility. That knowledge produces something meaningfully different from generic accent coaching. Foxtrot is the result.

As Founder and Clinical Director, T.J. oversees the clinical team, sets program standards, handles partner outreach, and conducts intake assessments and client meetings. He also leads some treatment sessions directly. Every Foxtrot program is built within a clinical framework he designed.

Before founding Foxtrot, T.J. served as Editor-in-Chief at Prince of Travel, where his work brought him into regular contact with airline executives and aviation professionals worldwide. His writing has appeared in the National Post, the Toronto Star, and Business Insider.

What we believe

Your accent is part of who you are. It reflects where you come from, the languages you speak, and the experiences that have shaped how you communicate. Accent modification is not about erasing any of that.

It is about giving you more control. Some people want to be more clearly understood in professional settings. Some are preparing for a regulated assessment. Some want to feel more confident in everyday conversation. The reasons are personal, and they are all valid.

We built Foxtrot Speech around a simple idea: that this kind of work should be done by qualified professionals using evidence-based methods, with transparent pricing and no pressure. Every session is delivered by a credentialed clinical specialist. Every program is built around a thorough assessment of your specific speech patterns. And every client decides for themselves how far they want to take it.
